In the heart of Lunenburg lies the Boscawen Inn. Built in 1888 (as a wedding gift nonetheless), Nika and Matt chose the Inn for their wedding ceremony and reception (and what a fantastic spot it is for wedding photos!). I'd had the opportunity to meet with them in early 2015 for a series of photos along the windswept granite of Peggy's Cove and was looking forward to working with them again. First impressions were that these two were very much in love and that their wedding day would focus on the celebration of their relationship.
These are the weddings that I enjoy documenting. The weddings that aren't wrapped up in details or timelines, the weddings that aren't focused on spectacles or perfection. These are the weddings were guests and hosts alike can mingle and share laughter. Shed a tear of joy. Reminisce in memories of yesteryear and toast new beginnings. The richness and warmth of those involved far surpassed the richness and warmth of this colourful gem of a Nova Scotian town.
To quote Patrick Case (who delivered a brilliant toast!);
"There are few words quite like love.
We are always returning to it, filling it with new meaning and giving it new dimensions.
Because love means different things at age six, at twenty-four, at thirty-two, at forty-nine.
It maps a different vastness as we grow because love is something we refine our whole lives."
Here's to exploring that word. To exploring what it can encompass. To refining it. Enjoy.
It was an honour to document your wedding day. To capture your wedding pictures. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

I should also note that this was my first wedding with Fuji's new X-Pro 2. Two of these bodies replaced my mixed Fuji kit from 2015 (two X-T1s and a X100T) and I couldn't be happier. Any of the black and white images from this post are SOOC JPEGs using the new in-camera ACROS simulation and red filter. I'm in love.
I should also give a huge shout out to the staff at the Boscawen Inn and the team from Alicia Melanson who were responsible for hair and makeup. Nothing but smiles and true talent.
