Despite recent precipitation it's been a great season to be a wedding photographer in the Halifax area. Warm temperatures and calm winds. Rich colours and lovely patterns in the sky. Morning, noon and night. Hasn't mattered.

Duncan's Cove Moonrise Engagement Photo Session
I'd been a foolish Haligonian. 13 years in Halifax and I hadn't explored Duncan's Cove. 13 years in Halifax and I didn't even know it was there. Follow HWY 134 North from Shedic and you'll eventually reach Grande-Digue. Turn right onto the 530 and you'll be led around a lazy loop of the peninsula, finishing off at the Rendez Vous Ice Cream bar. Delicious.
I had the pleasure of visiting Grande-Digue twice this past summer - once for a wedding and once for Amelie & Julien's engagement session. High winds and rain off of the Northumberland Straight paid a visit each time, but so did a generous amount of colourful evening sun. In its presence it becomes immediately apparent why so many homes and cottages have been built on the Western side of the peninsula. I doubt it's for the views of neighbouring Cocagne. Wind and rain be damned. They've been built to soak those colours in.
Having your photo taken isn't easy. It isn't natural. But I always chuckle when I hear;
"We're not very good at having our picture taken . . "
To which I smile, look through the viewfinder and mutter "nonsense" as I see this.
Love Ain't Just A Word.
