An ode to the flower. The blossom. The bloom.
As an ethnobotanist I’ve always been fascinated with the choice of flowers for each bridal bouquet or boutonnière. Why was an arrangement pieced together? Was it purely an aesthetic choice, or do the blooms carry meaning? Perhaps a combination of the two?
For years I’d grown accustomed to symmetrical arrangements, pieced together with recognizable blooms and unbound by season or location as they are often readily available. Then came the asymmetrical arrangements full of colour, full of vibrance, full of character.
A Haliburton Hotel Wedding
The courtyard at Haliburton Hotel is an oasis that every Halifax wedding photographer should have an opportunity to document. Removed from the traffic of Barrington and Morris Streets and sheltered by a canopy of green leaves, it presents itself as the perfect spot for a small, intimate wedding. It was an honour to have been there for Jen & Amy, an honour to have watched them walk into the courtyard together and an honour to have watched the beaming smiles of those in attendance. These two have shared much already and the joy conveyed by all on that summer afternoon is a good indication that more great things are to come.
