Just a couple of years ago I found myself spending most of my summers in New Brunswick, following the backroads between Shediac and Alma. There is a huge volume of work that has never been posted and I'd like to start sharing the odd wedding from seasons past. I find the practice of reviewing old work to be highly rewarding and believe that it will only help myself grow as a wedding photographer. What was I placing an emphasis on? How has my view changed? Am I closer to those I'm photographing or have I taken a step back? Of note with this period is the introduction of a 50mm lens outside of portrait work - up until that point I was running around with either a 24 or 35mm wide angle. This particular post takes me back to the Music Barn in Sackville, New Brunswick. Michelle & Adam were blessed with beautiful weather, a fantastic group of guests and a cozy venue. This Halifax wedding photographer was happy.
The Music Barn will always hold a special place in my heart - I’d photographed a handful of weddings prior to my first visit there, but the business truly took off once I’d shared that set. The warmth emanating from the structure is second to none - single pane glass, weathered barn board, lightning vanes, heavy timber and sheet metal with just the right amount of patina. Are you planning a wedding at the Barn? Please do touch base - I’d love to be the one who photographs it for you!
