Lord Nelson Hotel Wedding
I love watching people interact. I love it even more when, as a photographer, I’m able to capture that interaction unimpeded. I’ve labeled myself elsewhere as a documentarian when it comes to wedding photography. But what does that exactly mean? What will I be doing the day of the wedding?
I’m not going to get in the way (or at least I’m going to try my damnedest. I am 6’1” and can be a bit awkward on my feet at times. But I digress).
I’m not going to be the one who dictates your wedding day. Will I offer input during the formal photos? Absolutely. Outside of that? It’s on you.
But don’t let that scare you.
Socialize. Have a drink. Don’t worry about the small details. Enjoy as much of it as you can - you’re going to look your best if you’re comfortable. I’ll be there for the micro moments and the macro moments - the moments that you may have missed or the moments that you may forget about at a later date. Let things happen organically. Let them be documented.
This was a fun day for that. From the micro to the macro. From the candid to the posed. As for those posed photos? There was a bit of direction, but not a lot. These two enjoy each other’s company - something I quickly learned when we first met for their engagement photos.
I should also note the incredible group of artists (yes, artists!) who lent their talent, their vision, their voice. The team at Flaunt Salon, for their extensive MUA and styling expertise. Katrina Tuttle for the stunning two piece dress that left everyone speechless. Chelsea Lee Flowers for an amazing set of bouquets and boutonnières (and crown - I can’t forget that crown!). The Lord Nelson Hotel & Suites - from friendly staff to the newly renovated banquet rooms and halls - you went above and beyond for everyone involved. Merimac! Never a dull moment and you’re always there to sing your heart out. Kristen & Jane at Arrow & Knot Productions for their video work - I never grow tired of variations on the same day, especially when the talent behind the glass is so recognizeable. Always a pleasure to work with the two of you. Their video can be found *here*.
