2014 was a great year for travelling as a wedding photographer. Close to 35,000km on the car and a countless number of new locations visited. As a Halifax wedding photographer I feel that I'm centrally located and am within reach of some fantastic venues. Not far from Halifax is the community of Antigonish and the Crystal Cliffs beachside retreat. Once home to the Nova Scotia Centre for Geological Sciences, the main barn now plays host to conferences, seminars and of course, weddings. Cara & Addison chose to celebrate their wedding day at Crystal Cliffs with a ceremony under the trees and a reception under the exposed rafters of the main barn. Despite the threat of showers they were able to surround themselves with friends and family and enjoy their day uninterrupted. Rain or shine, Crystal Cliffs is full of charm and I'm thankful for being able to document their wedding day.

Hubbards Barn Wedding
Halifax wedding photographers have it lucky. Halifax itself is home to a solid set of venues, but one doesn't have to travel far from town to find the same quality, charm and character. Located to the west of Halifax and situated on the shores of St. Margarets Bay is the small community of Hubbards and the home of Hubbards Beach and Hubbards Barn. The barn itself is a simple structure, the site of both a farmers market and community park in the summer months. Exposed beams and solid wood floors make for a cozy atmosphere on even the coldest of days and large sliding doors allow guests to easily transition from the dance floor to starlight. Anne & James chose to wed underneath an arbour on the shores of Hubbards Beach before dancing and singing the night away at the barn. These two are gifted musicians and from strings to stomping feet their craft was front and center throughout the wedding day.

Located to the west of Halifax is Route 333, a winding stretch of road that passes by some of the most iconic scenery in all of Atlantic Canada. It will eventually reach Longards Cove and Shining Waters Marina - a cozy spot with a beautiful deck that overlooks Head Harbour. Natasha & Clayton chose to have hold their wedding ceremony on this very deck and were blessed with warm afternoon light and good company. From a smudging ceremony to an endless stream of hugs and happy tears - this was a rich afternoon and one that I won't forget.
