A Digby Pines Golf Resort & Spa Wedding
Perched on Mount Pleasant, and overlooking Digby's harbour is the Digby Pines Golf Resort and Spa. On a clear day you'll be able to look across to Smith's Cove and the mouth of Bear River, scallop trawlers and pleasure craft gliding back and forth in the foreground. Work your way through the streets of Digby and you'll step back in time as you follow the lazy bend of the resort's main entrance, passing rows of pine trees and hostas that eventually give way to the main lodge with its lone stone turret and red roof.
It's comforting. It's cozy. There is a warmth to this place that words can't describe. Chess sets and parquet flooring. Wicker chairs and stonework. That's just the beginning of this treasure trove seemingly lifted from the old world.
It was a beautiful day in September. Leaves had started to turn and flower beds were still in full bloom, their colours emboldened by the full sun. A slight breeze followed the rise of the mount and the temperature had gradually dropped from those mid-summer highs. Perfect weather for Latoya & Ryan's outdoor wedding.
A huge shout-out to Denise Stockdale at Barefoot Blooms. Her approach to cut flowers is amazing and I encourage those interested to follow her story / creations online. Each floral arrangement is a work of art, shaped by the season at hand and her imagination / creativity. If you’re interested in seeing more of her work I encourage you to read a recent post * here * - it’ll cover a visit to her property and detail the process of selecting blooms for arrangements.
A second huge shout-out to Scott Rideout from True North DJs. This man knows how to mix. this man knows how to read a crowd and keep them on their feet. Scott loves what he does and he isn't afraid to show it.
A third huge shout-out to Ashley & Richard from Applehead Studio. The best videographers in Halifax. Period. Always a pleasure to work with and always a pleasure to see the fruits of their labour. They never get in the way, yet there they are in the middle of everything. Capturing it all.
