A Lord Nelson Hotel & Suites Wedding

See this map in the original post

Open for business in October of 1928, the Lord Nelson Hotel dominates the skyline on the corner of South Park & Spring Garden, overlooking small shops to the south and the Halifax Public Gardens to the west. There is a lovely beat to the area - the construction of the hotel itself was the spark that started much of it. Foundations of local granite and walls of bluenose brick were the perfect setting for the marriage of a couple with their own roots in Nova Scotia.

Overcast skies added a richness to the late season pallette of the Gardens. The heavy rain that was forecast didn't arrive until the reception was underway, bringing with it a cool breeze that offered a welcome respite for those who had kept the dance floor busy or were stressed over the Jays / Ranger game that had aired earlier in the evening (7-6 Jays!).  A sea of smiling faces, a chorus of cheers and laughs and the thunder of stomping feet on parquet floors - mission accomplished. A marriage celebrated and new bonds / memories forged.

And now for some nods to those in the Halifax wedding industry! Naphtali Carleton for makeup,  Sky's the Limit for design & decor, Matthew Martin for classical guitar, True North DJs for audio and dancefloor tunes, Simply Weddings for logistics, planning and just keeping things running, Just Iced Custom Cakes for another piece of beautiful, edible artwork and Blossom Shop for floral arrangements.

Bravo all. Superstars.
